These are the things I wish you knew…
I wish you knew the morning I had before I walked in.
I wish you knew the night before I had, with little sleep, restlessness, worries, obligation, agitation, and memories of humiliation.
I wish you knew the constant debate in my head.
I wish you knew the care and deep-down compassion and passion I have for you to truly learn.
I wish you knew my childhood when it was wholesome, innocent, and pure.
I wish you knew my children to laugh with them with me.
I wish you were my children to continue to be in my life longer than you are.
I wish you would listen and conform to rules and order, but I really wish you to be free.
I wish you knew how hard it is to balance what I am supposed to teach you with what I want to teach you and what you should know about life.
I wish you knew how much your small feats mean when you have a breakthrough moment to where you have said you understand and how happy within, I am, even more than you.
I wish you knew how much I talk about you to my friends and family because no matter the ups, downs, or all-arounds, deep down I care.
I wish you knew the pride I have for you.
I wish you knew even when we don’t agree or you don’t like me, I support you and want you to succeed.
I wish you knew how much I don’t want to send you to the office.
I wish you knew how much coffee helps.
I wish you don’t cry, bully, fight, yell, have anger, have hurt, or fear but instead find calm knowing I am here.
I wish you knew I wish I could take away any pain.
I wish you all the best even when I am harsh or lecture you.
I wish you knew how much I do not want to give homework.
I wish you knew I don’t measure your success according to your “grades”, but truly see your efforts always.
I wish you knew I understand you are tired.
I wish you knew I understand you.
I wish you knew there are many things I wish I could change but cannot on my own.
I wish you knew how much you bring joy to me each day.
I wish you knew and realize how fast time goes by to enjoy and savor the moments you have right now.
I wish you knew the adult world in how hard it is to greater value your moments now.
I wish you knew how your imagination must remain.
I wish you to be you in every form and way.
I wish you knew how I hope you will have a safe, meaningful, and purposeful learning experience now and always, grow to be kind, and change the world for the better.
I wish you knew…
